초록(영문)

This thesis is to investigate the art history of Dara, ancient Kaya kingdom in southeastern Korea. Derived from recent archeological findings particularly from the site of Ok-jeon in Hap-cheon known since 1984, this study is to reconstruct the magnificent art of Kaya in general ear ornaments in particular. It seems that the Ok-jeon ear ornaments were originally influenced by the kingdoms of Baekjae and Silla as well as adjacent Kaya kingdoms such as Dae-kaya (Great Kaya) in Ko-ryung and Bihwa-kaya in Chang-nyung during the fifth and sixth centuries. Hence, they are the mixture of several artistic elements. Yet the hybrid Ok-jeon style itself exhibits its own uniqueness, which was forged around the late fifth century. Further, by elucidating the characteristics of ear ornaments at the Ok-jeon site, my studies showhow they can be interrelated not only with other archeological sites of the Kaya kingdoms but also with the Three Kingdoms in ancient times. In addition, my findings suggest the fact that the O k-jeon ear ornaments can represent an archaeological evidence of vivid cultural interconnectivity between ancient Korea and Japan.
