초록(영문)
This study deals with medicine of Gaya(加耶). The established study of ancient history of Korea has been progressed focusing on Shilla(新羅) Bakje(百濟) Koguryeo(高句麗) except Gaya(加耶). Moreover the study of medicine culture of Gaya(加耶) is unlikely to be done. Therefore I started to research medicine of Gaya(加耶). Because there are no existing books of history of Gaya(加耶) I had been doing my research comparing with contemporary countries that were contiguous with Gaya(加耶). The people of Gaya(伽倻) had lived with agriculture as the central means of living in the place where there were distinct four seasons so the people of Gaya(伽倻) had the theory of union between Heaven and Man(天人合一). Not only did they use mulberry tree silkworm hemp and arrowroot which they used for making cloth as a medicinal herb but also they used five grains(五穀) seafood and bird medically while consuming them. Also They lived in dugout hut where they could avoid pathogenic wind-cold and in high house where they could prevent pathogenic dampness. They worshiped sky and bird and the ruling class operated a plastic surgery called Pyeondu(?頭) which reflects their consciousness sprang from their belief that they are the sons of God. It can be considered that they reached the level of their medical ability to operate the cranium of a human being safely with accurate medical knowledge. Furthermore they created the unique musical instruments called Gayageum(加耶琴) which show the theory of Yin and Yang(陰陽) and Heaven Earth and Man(天地人). They exported acupuncture made by their remarkable technique for iron processing. In addition to they controlled disease by using medicinal plants they produced by themselves. They also had acknowledged a plague and they had a national department and government post which were in charge of medicine. Medicine exists anywhere anytime.
